When I run

Here are the things that I use on a daily basis while gearing up for the Los Angeles Marathon. I’m only affiliated with The Stick and the Adeo so if you’d like to purchase one please use the links below. Each product resulted from a problem I was experiencing, and the product met my needs.

The Stick.com Approved Affiliate. If you don’t have a personal trainer or massage therapist then this is the next best thing. “The Stick” will help you massage away any kinks in your muscles. I am notorious for not stretching; however, I spend a lot of time sitting down. All I need is ten minutes with this thing while watching TV or waiting for my girlfriend to get ready to go and I can get rid of most of my soreness from running. I’ve also had less injury since I started using this product. They have sticks of varying rigidity so pick the one that is right for you. I like a deeper penetrating massage so I went with a more rigid stick. The marathon stick is great for runners!

The Stick

Motionlingo’s Adeo

This is one of the coolest products that I have ever come across. I don’t like to be attached to too much while I run and this product is really easy to use. I don’t use it to its full potential in that all I do is turn it on, run and then turn it off. If you so desire, then you can actually have it tell you your pace, mileage covered and miles per hour while you run. I’ve tracked over 150 miles of runs already. What makes this product awesome is the website that allows you to track the calories that you burn, the miles you run, the miles run on your shoes (you can upload all the shoes you own and indicate which ones your using on particular runs), your elevation and pace. I cannot say enough about this product. We run in the hills and canyons of Santa Monica and Topanga Canyon and its accuracy is pretty good. Like most GPS products heavy tree coverage will result in a slight loss of coverage, but the loss is negligible. You can use this product for more than just running (i.e., hiking, biking, skiing, snowboarding, roller skating, etc). Email me if you want a third party review of the product (I am an affiliate but only because I’ve found this product to be so useful). BodyGlide

As I increased my mileage, I immediately started having problems with chaffing. I didn’t have anything to use on the first half-marathon that I completed and regretted it after nearly burning a hole into the inside of my thighs. I highly recommend this product if you have never heard of it or suffer from chaffing. I am not an affiliate or am associated with this product at
all, but I highly recommend it.

New Balance

I’ve been running with New Balance since I was in Cross Country. That was back in 1997. This company’s shoes have never caused me problems and seem to outlast some of the other shoes I have used.

Mizuno

This company makes more than I am going to comment on, but have you ever been running on a day that is extremely cold or it is raining on you? They have a product that actually warms when it interacts with moisture. I’ve been using this gear whenever I have to run super early in the morning or when it is really cold. I am not affiliated with this company but have found the Breath Thermo to be extremely helpful.

Ice-Up

They don’t seem to have their own website and another product I am not affiliated with. It’s like a push-pop for your knee or legs. You could use styrofoam cups to get the same result but the convenience of having this at your fingertips without freezing your hands is just awesome.
